Updates in upcoming releases
Important changes in future releases that might require additional steps or planning during upgrade.
Sensor port configuration support
In a future Nozomi Networks Operating System (N2OS) release, users will be able to easily configure sensor Management (MGMT) and monitoring ports to:
- Act as the MGMT port (a maximum of 1 MGMT port can be active)
- Support Smart Polling (without needing to be configured as MGMT port)
This will simplify network configuration management and render it more robust.
Important considerations
The system will warn users about potential network disruptions. However, because changing MGMT and monitoring port settings with this new feature could affect connectivity and functionality, you must plan carefully if you use one of these configurations:
- Guardians with monitoring ports configured as MGMT ports for running Smart Polling on devices from segregated networks
- Guardians and Central Management Console (CMC)s with advanced network configurations such as LACP/load balancing or other advanced network configurations
Users without advanced network configurations can immediately benefit from these new features. Those with complex network configurations are encouraged to plan changes carefully to ensure uninterrupted connectivity. For the best experience, we recommend that you use a serial connection when configuring sensors. If network interruptions occur, serial access remains available as a reliable alternative.
