Highlights
An overview of the most impactful changes in this release.
Protection for node renaming and labeling
A global synchronization mechanism protects node name changes and label assignments. It prevents data conflicts during concurrent modifications, ensuring consistency of names, labels, and IP assignments during high network activity.
File system enforcement for firmware upgrades
The operating system now blocks firmware upgrades on sensors using a UFS /data file system. Only sensors with ZFS can upgrade to Nozomi Networks Operating System (N2OS) v25.1.0. This safeguard prevents hardware failures and system instability caused by unsupported file systems.
If an upgrade fails, users should check the sensor via secure shell (SSH) and read the /data/upgrade-failed file. If it states that UFS is unsupported, follow the documented steps to migrate /data to ZFS before retrying the upgrade.
Smart Polling Progressive mode expansion
Progressive Mode now supports more Smart Polling strategies, with over 20 new options added. This enables adaptive, automated polling with minimal configuration, enhancing device coverage and visibility.
Data enrichment via Qualys integration
A new integration with Qualys enriches asset records daily with media access control (MAC) addresses, operating system information, and labels. This integration operates automatically and mirrors the behavior of existing integrations like CrowdStrike. Note that it does not create new assets.
Active Directory integration enhancements
The system now supports integration with Active Directory using lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP). It updates operating system metadata, the managedBy
field, and node type classification, improving accuracy and reducing manual asset management
tasks.
Platform limitation for Siemens LPE
N2OS v25.1.0 is not supported on Siemens LPE due to stability issues that can cause Remote Collectors to stall during reboot. The issue is under active investigation.
Known limitations
Sensors with a UFS /data file system cannot upgrade to N2OS v25.1.0.
