Highlights

An overview of the most impactful changes in this release.

Retirement of versions 22.x

As of the release date of Nozomi Networks Operating System (N2OS) 24.0.0, version 22.x has reached End of Version status. No new sustaining maintenance releases, enhancements, patches, or hot fixes will be made. Support will direct customers to upgrade to a more current version or release of the product. Please see our End of Life Policy for details. Should you need assistance upgrading to a newer version, please contact our Support team. We will be happy to assist.

Physical sensor compatibility matrix

We recently released a simple compatibility matrix outlining what expansion network interface controller (NIC)s are compatible with the different physical sensors and transceivers in our portfolio. This is intended to help all members of our ecosystem in their estimating, sizing, and scoping activities involving physical sensors.

New documentation portal

With the release of N2OS version 24.0.0, Nozomi Networks will also be releasing a new set of documents. The new documentation is part of a significant documentation improvement plan that will be accomplished across multiple phases. One of the most important aspects to highlight about this change is that all documentation will also be available online in this new online documentation portal, which all users can access and search.

Deprecation of STIX version 1

Nozomi Networks has supported Structured Threat Information Expression (STIX) indicators versions 1 and 2 since N2OS 20.0.7. Version 1 uses eXtensible Markup Language (XML) representation and is now considered legacy, while version 2 uses JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). Most threat intelligence information providers today deliver STIX content based on version 2. As of N2OS 24.0.0, Nozomi Networks will no longer support STIX version 1. Those customers leveraging custom STIX rules based on version 1 are encouraged to transition to version 2. This transition will be necessary to maintain the level of protection currently supported by those custom STIX indicators, and can be performed using official and third-party tools.
