Smart Polling plans

Smart Polling uses polling plans to define which devices to query, what information to collect, and when to perform polling activities.

Polling plans

A polling plan defines a set of devices to query and the queries to execute. You can create and manage Smart Polling plans in Vantage, Guardian, and Central Management Console (CMC). Arc sensors run Smart Polling, but their plans are managed centrally rather than on the sensor. There are two ways to create plans:

Progressive
Manual

Progressive

Progressive mode automates plan creation and execution. It polls devices with the correct parameters based on passively detected asset information. Smart Polling automatically identifies the optimal targets for polling based on discovered device characteristics.

Manual

Manual polling plans let you control polling activities. Create custom plans with specific device filters and query configurations.

Choose an approach

Use Progressive mode for automated polling based on discovered devices, or create manual plans for specific requirements. You can use both approaches.
