Respond to the Get more from Vantage prompt

To help Vantage better understand their environment, root administrators see a guided setup dialog after logging in. This process collects integration preferences and offers the option to enable Discovery and Smart Polling. It improves asset visibility and supports tailored configuration recommendations.

About this task

After login, root administrators are prompted with a short setup dialog that helps identify the software in use and enables Discovery and Smart Polling features. Completing the prompt allows Vantage to prioritize relevant integrations and automate data collection plans to enhance visibility and insights.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Vantage as a root administrator.

    The Get more from Vantage dialog displays an introduction message prompting the root administrator to answer setup questions or choose to be reminded later, assign the task, or continue.

  2. Select one of these options:
    • Remind me later: The prompt will appear again the next time that you log in
    • Assign to another user: Transfer the task to a different user
    • Next: Complete the setup now
  3. On the Integrations page, select the software products present in your environment.

    The Integrations page shows a search field and a list of available integrations such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Rapid7 InsightVM, and NetWitness, with options to continue or defer setup.

    You can choose from a list of predefined integrations or search for other integrations. When you enter an integration that is not currently supported in Vantage, it will help us prioritize the most used integrations for future Vantage releases.
  4. Select Next.

    The Asset Inventory page prompts the root administrator to enable Smart Polling and Discovery or configure these settings manually, with navigation options to go back or continue.

  5. On the Asset Inventory page:
    • Enable Smart Polling and Discovery – Starts Discovery immediately and schedules Smart Polling plans automatically
    • No, I'll configure this manually – Skips automated configuration for now
  6. Select Next.

    The Finish page confirms that setup is complete and notifies the user that they can update their responses or provide additional feedback at any time.

Results

The setup is complete. Vantage uses this information to tailor integration support and improve asset visibility for your environment.
