Add a monitoring interface to the virtual machine
By default, the virtual machine (VM) has one management network interface and one monitoring interface. Depending on deployment needs, it might be useful to add more monitoring interfaces to the sensor.

      Before you install a virtual machine (VM), you should make sure that you are familiar with the minimum requirements, and the supported formats and software that you can use with the Nozomi Networks software products.

    - Check the CPU of a virtual machine
      The amount of central processing units (CPU) from the hypervisor might not correspond with the actual amount seen from within the virtual machine (VM). Therefore, it is important to confirm that your VM has sufficient CPUs to support your configuration.
    - Check the RAM of a virtual machine
      The amount of random-access memory (RAM) from the hypervisor might not correspond with the actual amount seen from within the virtual machine (VM). Therefore, it is important to confirm that your VM has sufficient RAM to support your configuration.
    - Install a virtual machine
      Install the Guardian sensor on a virtual machine using a supported OVA or VHD file format. Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements and the hypervisor is properly configured. This setup enables centralized network monitoring in a virtualized environment.
    - Expand a disk on a virtual machine
      The monitoring scope of your sensor will dictate the size requirements of your virtual hard drive. Do this procedure to adjust the size of the virtual hard drive.
    - Add a secondary disk to a virtual machine
      If the main disk is not large enough when it is first imported, you can do this procedure to add a larger virtual data disk to the virtual machine (VM).

Add a monitoring interface to the virtual machine

By default, the virtual machine (VM) has one management network interface and one monitoring interface. Depending on deployment needs, it might be useful to add more monitoring interfaces to the sensor.

Procedure

If the virtual machine (VM) is powered on, shut it down.
From the hypervisor configuration, add one or more network interfaces.
Add one or more monitoring interfaces in accordance with to the intended usage.
The number of monitoring interfaces will depend on the intended usage.
Power on the VM.

Results

The new interface(s) is (are) now automatically recognized and used.
