Policy source

The Source column on the Policies page shows how a policy was created.

• Local: A policy that was created on this Arc sensor rather than by an upstream request. You can no longer create policies from Arc, so you only see this value for policies that already existed on the sensor.
• Remote: The upstream system that manages this Arc sensor requested a scan, and Arc created the policy automatically to run it

The Arc local UI is read-only: you cannot create, edit, or delete policies, regardless of their source. Policies are managed from the upstream system.

Each scan requested from upstream creates a new policy; it does not reuse an existing Remote policy from an earlier request. If the upstream system requests the same kind of scan repeatedly, you will see more than one Remote policy accumulate over time.
